| Changes his name Lubertus into Lucebert,
as he self once said: “I have enriched my name...a
combination of the Italian word “luce”, which
means “light”, and “bert”, which
has the same meaning”. |

at various places where he finds temporary shelter. |

Travels with the painter and friend
Anton Martineau to France and makes a mural in a school
in Pavillon sous Bois, near Paris.
At his first exhibition of drawings, together with Anton
Martineau, at a meeting-room of Alcoholic Anonymous in
Amsterdam, he gets to know the poet and critic Gerrit
Kouwenaar, who introduced Lucebert to other writers and
painters of the Dutch “Experimentele Groep”.
He joins the group (some of whose members are the painters
Karel Appel, Constant, Corneille, Rooskens and Wolvekamp),
who will later found the international Cobra group. |

Lucebert’s poetry first appears
in the journal “Reflex”, which is published
by the “Experimentele Groep”.
The poem “Love letter to our martyred bride Indonesia”
(there is a war going on in the Dutch colony Indonesia)
causes a sensation.
Participation at the first exhibition of the Cobra group
in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. He is represented
with poems and drawings on the margins of the panels in
the so-called “Dichterskooi”. |

La poesía de Lucebert aparece
por primera vez en la revista “Reflex”, que
fue publicada por el “Experimentele Groep”.
El poema “Carta de amor a nuestra torturada prometida
Indonesia” (habia una guerra en la colonia holandesa
Indonesia) causa sensación.
